IELTS Listening Part 1 #6
Tapescript
INTERVIEWER:
So, I understand you're interested in working at our bookstore?
APPLICANT:
Yes, I really enjoy books, and I've worked in a library before. I can provide references if needed.
INTERVIEWER:
That's great to hear. Our store, Page Turners, has a few vacancies right now. It's a great place to work, with a lot of benefits for employees.
APPLICANT:
Oh, that sounds promising.
INTERVIEWER:
Yes. For instance, all staff receive training sessions – even part-time workers.
APPLICANT:
Oh really? That's good to know.
INTERVIEWER:
And you also get a 25% discount on any books or stationery in the store.
APPLICANT:
That's fantastic! What about uniforms?
INTERVIEWER:
Well, there's no strict uniform. You just need to wear a plain blue shirt and black trousers.
APPLICANT:
Oh, that's easy enough.
INTERVIEWER:
Exactly. Now, most of our stores are in shopping centers, so getting here by bus is quite simple.
APPLICANT:
That's convenient. I live pretty close, so I'd probably just walk.
INTERVIEWER:
Great! So let me tell you a bit about the job requirements. We're looking for someone who's good at organizing shelves and helping customers find books. You'd also need to assist with stock management, like sorting deliveries and restocking books.
APPLICANT:
I think I could handle that. I'm pretty organized.
INTERVIEWER:
Perfect. To begin with, the pay is £10.25 per hour, but it goes up to £11.50 after three months.
APPLICANT:
That sounds fair. Are the hours flexible?
INTERVIEWER:
Yes, but there's a lot of weekend work, especially during holidays. And we close at 6 p.m. on weekdays.
APPLICANT:
That's not too bad.
INTERVIEWER:
Also, if you work a late shift on Sundays, we'll arrange for a free taxi home.
APPLICANT:
Oh, that's helpful.
INTERVIEWER:
Lastly, you'll need basic computer skills since we use a digital inventory system.
APPLICANT:
I'm comfortable with that.
INTERVIEWER:
Great. So, we've got two vacancies at the moment. One is at our branch on Maple Street, and the other is in Greenwood Plaza.
APPLICANT:
I'd prefer Maple Street. It's closer to where I live.
INTERVIEWER:
No problem. Let me just take down your details...
